The Chicago Fire has signed Dutch forward Collins John, a free agent and former striker for Fulham. The 24-year-old John began his professional career in 2002 with FC Twente, scoring 11 goals in 35 games before being sold to Fulham FC in January 2004. He scored 20 goals in 95 games for Fulham from 2004-07, and led the team with 11 goals during the 2004-05 season.

Defender Adrian Serioux has been traded from Toronto FC to the Houston Dynamo for a third-round draft pick in 2011. The 30-year-old two goals and one assist in 26 games last season. A Toronto native, he played on Houston's first championship team in its inaugural season of 2006. He has one goal in 19 games with Canada's national team.

Major League Soccer players voted to strike if a new labor contract isn't agreed to before the season opener on March 25. The league's first collective bargaining agreement, a five-year deal, originally was set to run out Jan. 31 but was extended twice while negotiations continued. It expired Feb.

Red Bulls acquire Robinson from Toronto (AP) 3/11/2010 10:28:24 PM

The New York Red Bulls have acquired Welsh former national midfielder Carl Robinson from Toronto FC for a fourth-round pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. The Red Bulls announced the move Thursday. They say Robinson will be added to the roster pending a visa approval. The 33-year-old Robinson has appeared in 74 games with Toronto over the past three years, mostly as a defensive midfielder.

The New York Red Bulls have signed goalkeeper Greg Sutton. New York general manager Erik Soler thinks the Canadian can push Bouna Coundoul for the starting job. Sutton joins New York after three seasons with Toronto FC, where he made 33 starts. He had seven shutouts.
